A dead man’s body was found Monday afternoon inside an abandonded home on Sanhican Drive, and police believe his death is the result of a homicide.
According to law enforcement, around 2:30 p.m. Monday, police received a call reporting a “guy inside a building,” and when police arrived at 16 Sanhican Drive, they found a man inside the home suffering from gunshot wounds.
“He was pronounced dead at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing,” Lt. Steven Varn said Monday.
Varn would not comment on when police believe the victim was murdered, but citizens who were gathered along Sanhican Drive Monday afternoon said they never heard gunshots. They also said that 16 Sanhican Drive and the homes on both sides of it are vacant properties, and that the victim may have been dead in the home for quite some time.
Four men were in custody in the backseat of several police vehicles that were parked outside the crime scene Monday afternoon, but Mercer County prosecutors confirmed late Monday that no suspects have been arrested in connection with the case.
The victim’s age and identity are being withheld at this time.
