A man was found shot and killed on Centre Street Monday evening.
According to law enforcement, around 10 p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to the 300 block of Centre Street to investigate a reported shooting in progress. And when officers arrived on-scene, they found a male lying in the middle of the street suffering from "numerous" gunshot wounds.
The victim was then taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. He was later identified as 33-year-old Pinkey Priester.
Sources told the Trentonian that shortly before the shooting, Priester and the alleged gunman engaged in a fist fight. But police said they do not have a suspected motivation for the killing, nor do they have a suspect description.
Police Director Ralph Rivera Jr. was at the scene around midnight, along with members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau and the Mercer County Homicide Task Force, which is now investigating the case.
Monday's killing brings this year's murder toll to 16. And there has been a murder within the city of Trenton in each of the past three weeks.
