Two city men have been charged in connection with the death of 22-year-old Chevin Burgess.
On the evening of January 4, firefighters found Burgess dead inside a burning car in the 100 block of Hart Avenue. A medical examiner later determined Burgess’ death to be a homicide caused by a gunshot wound.

According to prosecutors in the case, Burgess was shot and killed during the course of a robbery. Prosecutors say Samad shot Burgess in the head, and that the body was then driven to Hart Avenue, doused with gasoline and set on fire.
Samad is charged with murder, felony murder, robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Foreman is charged with felony murder, robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Samad’s bail was set at $1 million. He is currently being held at the Albert C. Wagner Youth Correctional Facility on unrelated charges.
